NEW 2015 HONDA INTRODUCES CBR300R

For 2014 Honda introduces a true sporting lightweight. A motorcycle that can offer much of the excitement of a bigger machine and sometimes more. For the less experienced rider, it’s a great platform from which to hone riding skills, and much more affordable in every respect.

The CBR300R provides the perfect entry point into Honda’s Super Sport CBR range. Its compact size, involving single-cylinder engine, and looks inspired by bigger CBR machines make the CBR300R standout from the crowd. The 2014 CBR300R, styling cues are taken directly from the Super Sport range-topping CBR1000RR with an angular silhouette and aggressive full fairing, colour-matched undercowl, dual headlights and steeply raked rear seat unit.
Replacing a class favorite, the CBR250, the liquid-cooled engine is now 286cc, achieved through a longer stroke. It has also received upgrades to take full advantage of the increased power and torque, while reducing vibration that the larger capacity brings. Work has centred on the engine’s throttle response and power delivery, while a new CBR500R-style exhaust is both an aesthetic and functional upgrade.

Acceleration is greatly improved thanks to the larger capacity, and the six-speed gearbox’s final drive ratio has been lengthened for more efficient highway speed cruising.

Its compact size also helps create a bike that is lighter and more flickable. The riding position has been subtly altered – while seat height remains 785mm, ground reach has been improved with a narrower, re-shaped seat.

HONDAThe CBR300R punches well above its weight, its stylish, performance oriented design will make it a favourite for those that simply love to ride

2015 new Honda CB150R vs Yamaha YZF R15

Overall

Indian biking scenario is witnessing a drastic change as customers are demanding more powerful and sporty bikes. We can witness a significant shift in customers moving from low-end commuter bikes to premium bikes. Yamaha was struggling with its bike line up but introduction of R15 and FZ series really turned the tables for Yamaha. Yamaha heralded a new era in Indian biking scenario with the launch of R15 as it was the closest thing to a true sports bike in the Indian market at that time. A whole new segment of premium sports bikes was created to cater the rising demands of Indian customers. To cash in on this trend Honda launched the CBR 150R in wake of the success of Yamaha R15. Looking at the popularity and rising competition Yamaha launched a refreshed R15 V2.0. Both bikes resemble their bigger siblings and are one of the most modern bikes on offer in this segment.
Looks

honda vs yamaha

Yamaha R15 V2.0 has undergone some drastic changes compared to its previous version. The new version looks extremely sporty and cool. The front tire is wider, it features a dark visor at the front, and the side cowl has been redesigned to improve aerodynamics and accentuate styling. It receives new silencers with carbon finish enhancing its sporty looks. The rear section has been entirely redesigned; the new tail cowl is striking in design and is void of any grab rail. The rear features wider tires compared to its earlier version which is a much-needed and welcome change. Split seats with separate seat section provide sporty riding position. LED tail lights add cadence to styling. The newly designed cast alloy wheels apart from being lighter looks stunning. The aluminum swing arm at the rear looks awesome and is a first in any Indian bike.

The CBR 150R looks almost similar to its elder sibling CBR 250. It clearly draws inspiration from Hondas VFR series which provides a big engine look to the bike. The sporty full cowling is inspired by racing DNA of Honda and adds bulk to the bike apart from enhancing aerodynamics. Racing stripes further enhance the sporty image of the bike. Its head light is unique and inspired from VFR series. The crystal clear head light gives bright beam and striking looks. The rear section of bike looks similar to the bigger CBR and features black colored grab rails.

Both bikes are sporty in design and are really eye-catching. However R15 V2.0 looks more sporty and appealing compared to CBR 150R. The R15 V2.0 is a true bred sports bike.

Features

Yamaha R15 V2.0 comes with some class leading features. It features futuristic instrument console with a round pod for its analog tachometer along with digital speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer and other LED indicators. The blue back light looks incredible at night. The dual headlight of R15 V2.0 allows you to get a clear view of road at night. Separate seat section ensures better seating and sporty riding position. The rear mud guard and sari guard are designed to co-ordinate visually with the rear fender and are attached to the swing arm.

CBR 150R also comes loaded with features. It sports an analog tachometer along with digital speedometer, fuel gauge, and odometer and LED indicators. The orange back light looks good at night. The head light of the bike uses high wattage bulbs which offer brightest view of road for safety at night. It also features an adequate amount of space under its seats for storing riding gloves, rain jacket etc. It features wide tubeless tires providing excellent grip and enhanced handling.

Feature wise both bikes are almost similar and has good number of features. CBR 150R’s under seat storage though limited is a plus point while R15 V2.0 has the advantage of dual head lamps.

Performance

Coming from Yamaha stable it guarantees superior performance that’s legendary of its elder siblings. Yamaha is powered by a liquid cooled 4 stroke 150 cc 4 valve SOHC engine producing maximum power of 16.8 bhp @ 8500 rpm and a maximum torque of 15 Nm @ 7500 rpm. The engine is mated to a six speed gear box with one gear down and five gear up pattern. It can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in around 13 sec and has a top speed of 130 kmph. The bike gives a mileage of around 40 kmpl in city driving and 50 kmpl in highway driving condition which is respectable considering performance of the bike.

Honda CBR 150R doesn’t disappoint with its performance. The engine is a 150cc liquid cooled 4 stroke DOHC engine churning out maximum power of 17.58 bhp @ 10500 rpm and maximum torque of 12.66 Nm @ 8500 rpm. The engine is mated with a six speed gear box with one down and five up pattern. Though the bike feels slow initially due to its low torque, the high end performance is better than R15 V2.0. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in about 12 sec which is one sec quicker than R15 V2.0. The top speed of the bike is 132 kmph. CBR 150R gives a mileage of around 38 kmpl in city and around 45 kmpl in highway riding condition.

Both bikes produce an ample amount of power for a 150 cc engine. Yamaha’s engine produces more torque and is quick initially but CBR 150’s engine is more powerful and reaches the 100 kmph mark quicker than R15 V2.0. However Yamaha R15 V2.0 will be more fun to drive in city traffic owning to its high torque.

Ride and Handling

Yamaha R15 V2.0 offers a sporty driving stance which is unique and unmatchable by any other bikes manufactured in this segment. The seats are comfortable with foot pegs placed far behind than normal. Its low and snug seating gives you the confidence to push the bike to the limit. It comes with telescopic forks at the front and linked type mono shocker at its back. The bike feels comfortable on uneven roads and bumps. The braking system of the bike has been upgraded from its previous version. Front features 270 mm disc brake and rear features 220 mm disc brake providing accurate and excellent braking in any kind of road surface. The extended wheel base, wider tires and aluminum swing arm at the rear provides flawless handling and a pleasant ride which is light and accurate.

The seating position of the CBR 150R is not as sporty as that of R15 V2.0 but it is much more comfortable. Seat is placed relatively higher and provides optimum comfort. It features a telescopic fork at the front and a mono shock absorber at the rear providing high quality performance in any riding condition. It features a 276 mm disc at the front and 220 mm disc at the rear. The bike feels stable and grounded at high speeds. Though wheel base is lesser compared to the R15 V2.0 its wider front tires and 190 mm ground clearance provides optimum handling during straight rides and while cornering. Its high ground clearance ensures that it tackles any kind of road surface with ease.

Both bikes offer excellent ride and handling. However Yamaha R15 V2.0 is the closest you can get to a true race bike experience in this segment.

Verdict

Both bikes are worthy contenders for the top spot in this segment. Both bikes are sporty, have powerful engines, awesome performance and are fun to ride. However the new and improved R15 V2.0 has an upper hand over the CBR 150R due to its low-cost, sporty stance and high torque engine which makes it really fun to drive in city traffic. The Yamaha R15 V2.0 sells for around 1,08,000 rupees (Ex Showroom) and Honda CBR 150R sells for around 1,18,000 rupees (Ex Showroom).

NEW 2015 yamaha yzf-R1

It was a rainy night in Milan, but that in no way dampened the mood at Yamaha, which trotted out MotoGP star Valentino Rossi to ride the long-awaited 2015 YZF-R1 onto stage at the big launch party held the night before the EICMA motorcycle show opened. And what an impressive bike this new R1 appears to be, a seriously sporty new Yamaha flagship that goes on sale in February/March priced at $16,490.

For that sum, you’ll be getting a potent and highly capable motorcycle that can throw down some fast laps at your local track day and then be ridden home. And it’s in that role as a street-legal race bike that the new R1 will almost certainly shine, thanks to a lightweight aluminum chassis (with a magnesium subframe) and an all-new 998cc four-cylinder engine that puts out “approximately 200 horsepower” at the crankshaft. Yamaha, of note, makes it clear that the 200 mark is reached without any ram-air effect. Also, good, linear torque is reported throughout the rev band.

Neat details abound: The R1’s connecting rods are titanium, and their big ends are fracture-split, which assures a perfect circle. The cylinder head, with reshaped ports and larger valves (33mm intakes, 26.5mm exhausts), has 13.0:1 compression, and its narrower valve angle allows for a more compact pent-roof combustion chamber. And, in page borrowed from MotoGP, the crankshaft is a crossplane design with 270°/180°/90°/180° firing sequence that gives each piston and con rod its own individual and separate movement for power pulses that improve acceleration traction and offer a most excellent great exhaust growl.

Another note about the R1’s crankshaft: Yamaha says it has 20 percent less inertial moment than the previous crank, which dramatically improves throttle response. And a lightweight primary coupling balancer has weights positioned near the outer cylinders for strong acceleration and consistently high torque.

Lightweight forged aluminum pistons are also part of the R1 recipe. Cooled by oil jets from below, these pistons are lightweight but strong, and their low-tension piston rings, together with a diamond-like carbon coating on the wristpins, helps reduce internal friction. Similarly coated is a new rocker-arm mechanism that provides a higher valve lift than the cam height to reduce load on the cam and further cut internal friction.

One of Yamaha’s main design thrusts was to increase air intake volume while reducing power losses. The airbox on the new R1 is a voluminous 10.5 liters, 23 percent larger than the previous box. Yamaha’s Chip Controlled Injection, with long and short funnels electronically activated for optimum power output and torque, remains in use, while new two-directional, 12-hole injectors spray fuel at the back of the larger intake valves.

WHAT DOES THE DOCTOR SAY?
Valentino Rossi evidently played a role in the development of the new 2015 R1. He said he wanted the bike to have the agility of his M1 race machine, but, at the same, be more comfortable to ride and have a “better feel” over the front end. He also worked with the R1’s new electronics, which feature, among other things, lean-sensitive traction control, slide control, and ABS, plus various power modes, a quickshifter, wheelie control and launch control. “All of the electronics in MotoGP have improved a lot,” said Rossi, a nine-time world champion. Electronics now work in a very natural way. It’s like normal riding, but easier.”

With cast magnesium wheels, lightweight LED lights, and a titanium 4-2-1 exhaust, the new 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 tips the scales at a claimed 439 lb., in fully wet, ready to ride form. Its wheelbase is down by almost 0.4 inch, and its swingarm has been reduced in length by 0.5 inch. Rake and fork offset are unchanged, and an inverted 43mm fork is complemented by a link-type single-shock rear.

Also notable: The 2015 R1 is the first Yamaha supersport model with ABS and Unified Braking. With the latter, the operation of the front brake generates a corresponding brake force at the rear. And when the rider operates both the front and rear brakes, UBS controls the balance applied to each brake. The only time UBS has no control is when only the rear brake is used.

LED headlights reside in the leading edges of the side cowling, not in the center of the fairing, which gives the new 2015 R1 has a race-ready look. This is backed up with an exceptionally strong technical package should keep this Yamaha busy on weekends at racetrack and on roads around the world.

SPECIAL-EDITION: THE YAMAHA YZF-R1M
Near the end of the Yamaha press conference in Milan, we were in for a surprise treat: The R1M, a limited-edition R1 for riders or professional teams who plan to go racing, essentially a homologation special in the spirit of the YZF-R7 of 1999. To that end, this special R1M has Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS) from Öhlins, carbon-fiber bodywork, a Communication Control Unit (a data logger) and stickier Bridgestones. Price: $21,990. Fewer than 500 will be built.

Mv Agusta introduces new models for 2015

MV Agusta

Mv Agusta introduces new models for 2015

Introduction
MV Agusta continues to expand its motorcycle range: after introducing the Rivale 800, the emblem of motard-style sports appeal and ultra-dynamic road performance, the new Brutale 800 Dragster takes the very concept of 'motorcycling passion' and makes it breathtakingly tangible. No meremeans of transport, a motorcycle is a symbol of freedom, of our need to get out there and explore and to savour mile after spine-tingling mile. Experiencing every single second of that freedom. The new Brutale 800 Dragster embodies and embraces the ambitions and dreams of every bike, making them nothing less than on-the-road reality. Thrills. Unforgettable moments.

The 3-cylinder Brutale 675 and 800 have introduced countless riders to that awesome buzz that goes with riding a high-performance naked bike. Outstanding ridability, power under constant control, lightness, great design, and exceptional value for money. This unmatched combination has made
the 3-cylinder Brutale a huge success. Now, the Brutale 800 Dragster takes a big step forward into the future, yet does so with an attentive eye to the past. The most extreme Brutale ever is no fan of compromise: irreverent and brash, it is essential, brusque, outspoken and irascible. Packing a powerful punch, the Brutale 800 Dragster takes exhilaration to a whole new level. At the same time it draws on the ideas that shaped the first 4-cylinder Brutale bikes, the very essence of the naked concept and monuments to incomparable styling. Linking yesterday and tomorrow, the Brutale 800 Dragster embodies both experience and intuition, symbolising motorcycling past, present and forever. Pure essence. Pure thrills. 100% Brutale.

With consummate Italian craftsmanship, the Brutale 800 Dragster re-evokes the epic DNA of the "dragster" race bikes, specifically built to release their
explosive power in the few seconds that separate clutch release from the chequered flag. Seconds as scorching hot as the rubber left smoking on
the tarmac. Seconds that speed by in the blink of a tachometer. In pursuit of unforgettable sensations.

The Brutale 800 Dragster flings open the doors to the idea that freedom is attainable. On two wheels. Or even on just one.

The characteristics
In detail, the main features of MV Agusta Brutale 800 Dragster:
• In-line three-cylinder engine, 798 cc
• Bore 79.0 mm, stroke 54.3 mm
• Maximum power 125 HP (92 kW) at 11,600 rpm
• Maximum torque 81 Nm at 8,600 rpm
• Limiter at 13,000 rpm
• Dry weight 167 kg
• Power-weight ratio 1.34 kg/HP
• Tyres Pirelli DIABLO Rosso II 120/70 - ZR 17 front, 200/50 – ZR 17 rear

The engine
Engineering at the service of manufacturing efficiency: the 3-cylinder MV Agusta platform demonstrates how conscientiousness at the concept
and design stages can result in the development of completely original models from the same, shared technological basis. The new Brutale 800
Dragster is no exception to that rule, once again highlighting the versatility of the cutting-edge MV Agusta platform centred on the 3-cylinder engine
- the power unit that has made the greatest developmental progress in its market segment. The goals laid out in the project brief were highly ambitious:
performance at the peak of their respective displacement categories (675 and 800), maximum elasticity, low fuel consumption and a torque curve
spread evenly across the entire power range. And unprecedented compactness: the three-cylinder MV Agusta engine, built to achieve all these
goals, weighs just 52 kg, giving improved output flexibility and better load distribution on the axles, on both the new Brutale 800 Dragster and the
other models that already possess this feisty in-line 3-cylinder Italian engine. Key technical features include the shell-cast "closed-deck" crankcase with
integral bore liners; the need for compactness has also imposed full integration of the water and oil circuits and the respective service pumps. Just as significant - and exclusive - is the choice of counter-rotating crankshaft, a solution with origins in the racing world where ride responsiveness has absolute priority, and the only judge of performance is the stopwatch. The counter-rotating crankshaft reduces inertia during changes of direction because it lowers that same inertia during deceleration; this enhances handling, the excellence of which is already a built-in top-priority feature of the MV Agusta chassis set-up. Compared to previous 3-cylinder configurations, the one specially developed for the Brutale 800 Dragster focuses on fast-response, linear power output, putting a mighty roar into this roadster. The 125 HP power peak is reached at 11,600 rpm, while the maximum torque of 81 Nm comes at 8,600 rpm. Completing this highly sophisticated package is the removable 6-speed gearbox, with ratios designed to ensure awesome acceleration and a sports-category top speed should the bike be unleashed on the track.

The electronics
The new MVICS (Motor&Vehicle Integrated Control) injection-ignition system features the very latest software and an engine control strategy first
implemented, with great success, on the Rivale 800 and now extended to the entire 3-cylinder MY2014 range. MVICS also features the Eldor EM2.0 engine control unit and a Mikuni Full Ride-By-Wire throttle body. The fully integrated management allows, via the instruments and the handlebar switches, easy adjustment of numerous user-settable parameters. More specifically, the system lets the rider configure the torque setting with 4 different mappings. Three of these are set directly by the manufacturer and named according to the relative riding conditions (Sport, Normal and Rain) while the fourth leaves the rider free to define, within established limits, all the individual parameters: engine response, rev limiter, engine torque response, throttle sensitivity, engine braking. As one would expect, 8-level traction control (which can be disengaged) is also included: the relative algorithms have been tweaked to perfection for maximum precision, a must on a bike such as the new Brutale 800 Dragster as one of its defining characteristics is astounding acceleration.

The frame
The frame configuration, which has characterised the 3-cylinder platform since its inception, features an ALS tubular steel load-bearing structure,
supplemented by lightweight aluminium alloy plates. This combination forms part of that production flexibility concept which inspired the 3-cylinder project
and consequently allows the design of specially-developed frames for each model without disrupting the underlying look or essence. Note that this
same set-up has characterised MV Agusta models since the launch of the astonishing F4: today's 3-cylinder Italian-built MV Agusta bikes offer up an
even more highly evolved version of the concept. The front, tubular section employs a steel alloy with exceptional metallurgical qualities that, while
extremely lightweight, provides outstanding torsional stiffness, especially in those areas most subject to stress, such as the steering head. The aluminium alloy plates close off the structure at the rear and act as the fulcrum for the single-sided swingarm. A compact wheelbase of just 1,380 mm, identical to that of the Brutale 800, strikes a perfect balance, ensuring both excellent handling and stability; the 95 mm trail boosts the already outstanding front end performance, making ‹‹ CHASSIS SET-UP for enhanced ridability and bike control. Another eye-catching feature perfectly in keeping with the Brutale 800 Dragster design ethos is the attentiongrabbing Pirelli DIABLO Rosso II rear tyre, having a width of 200 and a shoulder of 50. The suspension system features fully adjustable units, allowing personalisation of compression and rebound settings, as well as providing a selection of spring pre-load options. The Ø 43 mm upside-down Marzocchi fork offers 125 mm of travel; the Sachs rear shock gives the single-sided swingarm - also in aluminium alloy - 125 mm of travel. The seat, with a height of 811 mm, has been redesigned to improve comfort and function: it also boasts a craftsman-like finish with stylishly stitched seams. The rider can also count on even more functional foot pegs and supports, and new heel guards which, just like the wheel rims, have been specially customised for the Dragster. Equipped with first class Brembo components, the braking system relies on a pair of Ø 320 mm floating front discs, equipped with 4-piston callipers (Ø 32 mm); the rear unit, instead, has a Ø 220 mm steel disc and mounts a 2-piston calliper (Ø 34 mm).

Colors and Prices
The new Brutale 800 Dragster is available in two different colours:
• White
• Matt Metallic Grey

MSRP:  $16,895.00 (Taxes and PDI extra)

Keyless Ride for the R 1200 GS, GS Adventure, R 1200 RT and K 1600 GT / GTL
For the first time, the BMW Motorrad Keyless Ride System now optionally replaces the conventional ignition lock in the R 1200 GS / GS Adventure, the R 1200 RT and the K 1600 GT / GTL.

This means that it is no longer necessary to use a regular key. Unlocking and locking of the steering lock, ignition, fuel filler flap and storage compartments (R 1200 RT and K 1600 GT / GTL) is carried out using a transponder integrated in the key. The key can therefore remain in the rider's clothes.

As soon as the key is located within the vehicle reception area (distance < 2 meters), the steering lock can be briefly unlocked after successful authentication by briefly pressing the button. The steering lock is locked by keeping the button pressed down and placing the handlebars in end position.

The ignition is activated by briefly pressing the button or keeping the button pressed down after releasing the steering lock. The ignition is switched off by means of a short or long press of the button.

To open the fuel tank, the lever of the fuel filler flap is simply raised. The fuel filler flap can be opened when the motorcycle has been electrically unlocked. The fuel tank is closed by simply pressing the fuel filler flap shut.

The alarm system (DWA) is automatically activated when the ignition is switched off and the steering lock is closed, as soon as the key leaves the reception area. However, the alarm system can also be activated manually.

Shift Assistant Pro for the R 1200 GS / GS Adventure.
Shift Assistant Pro for gear shifts virtually without torque interrupt as a new special equipment feature for the R 1200 GS / GS Adventure.

The Shift Assistant Pro enables the rider to shift up and down without activating the clutch or throttle valve in the relevant load and engine speed ranges, giving the rider additional comfort as well as increased dynamic performance. Most shifts can be carried out using the shift assistant; one exception here is setting off, for example.

When accelerating, the throttle valve no longer has to be closed for shifts, so propulsion power is virtually constant without torque interrupt. When decelerating and shifting down (throttle valve closed), the engine speed is automatically adapted by means of double-declutching.

Gears are engaged as usual by means of the gear pedal. Shift time is significantly reduced as compared to a gearshift using the clutch. However, the Shift Assistant Pro is not an automatic transmission, it simply provides gear shift support. When the Shift Assistant Pro is used for gear shifts, the cruise control is deactivated for safety reasons.
