Yamaha R15 V3.0 in the works, launch in 2016 – Report

The motorcycle is codenamed ‘Yamaha BG7’.

The Yamaha R15 has established itself as one the best-selling bikes in the 150 cc segment with a combination of good looks, sporty handling and peppy performance. The fully-faired motorbike, now in its second generation, is however beginning to show its age with the last update having taken place way back in 2011, with new exterior colours and other minor tweaks in recent years notwithstanding.

its second generation, the R15 is beginning to show its age with its last major update way back in 2011.

Yamaha has realized this and is developing the next-generation R15 in Japan codenamed BG7, reports Motorbeam. That being said, the bike is presently in the early stages of development and further information is only expected by early next year. The BG7 will reportedly be exported to Thailand and the Indian market will get it too. This is good news for performance motorcycle enthusiasts as the newer version will likely have more power, sharper handling and a better design.
The current Yamaha R15 version 2.0 is powered by a single cylinder, liquid cooled, four-stroke 150 cc engine developing 16.7 bhp and 15 Nm of torque married to a six-speed gearbox. The R15 employs the single discs with a 267 mm unit at the front and a 220 mm at the rear. Expect the new version to have better performance and specification to ward off the increasingly tough competition.

  1. Hey – great blog, just looking around some blogs, seems a really nice platform you are using. I’m currently using WordPress for a few of my blogs but looking to change one of them over to a platform similar to yours as a trial run. Anything in particular you would recommend about it?
